Our ancestry has been traced back as far as 1755 when Edward Hagan was born in Wrightsborough, SC. Edward had four sons.

Martha Hagans b 1826 in ALDid Edward marry Gilly Tankersly prior to his marriage to Martha??? We have not been able to confirm this marriage but we are also unable to find adequate records to impeach the idea. Some of both families are still working on an answer to this question. I feel those is good circumstantial evidence that it is true and therefore include the following information.

After Gully's death in 1846 Edward married Martha Bullard Hagans in 1949.

NOTE – John Oliver arbitrarily changed his name to John Jay Hagans after he moved to Texas in about 1885.

Emily Hagans b 1860 married George Wesley Culberson
The Children of James Patterson Hagans and Sudie Bryant Hagans - Note- James Patterson Hagans dropped the "s" from the family name after he moved to Texas in the mid 1880s.
